Training & Workforce Development
I helped run the Air Force’s largest formal training unit — 5,700+ training events and 348 missions that produced 366 qualified aircrew for 11 squadrons and 7 combatant commands. Since then I’ve managed unit training for 187 members across 4 locations and handed a training program to contractor support with zero continuity loss. Building people into capability is the through-line of my career.
The Training Machine
Three chapters: the schoolhouse where the scale was learned, the unit training desk where the systems were built, and the program-management years where training ran alongside a national-level portfolio.
Instructor/Evaluator · Flight Chief · Section Chief
- Helped lead the Air Force’s largest formal training unit: 5,700+ training events and 348 missions producing 366 qualified aircrew for 11 squadrons and 7 combatant commands.
- Served as instructor and evaluator on RC-135V/W operations — teaching the systems, then certifying that others could run them.
- Built evaluation and standardization tools that were adopted as institutional standards across units.
Operational Test Program Manager — NC3 · Unit Training Manager duty
- Managed unit training for 187 members across 4 locations — qualification tracking, currency, and compliance for a geographically distributed workforce.
- Ran the training desk while simultaneously managing operational test programs within a $4B portfolio — proof the training system, not heroics, carried the load.
Operations Superintendent · Unit Training Manager
- Rewrote squadron training policy and administered $13K/$30K training funds and 23 formal training assignments.
- Transitioned training management to contractor support with zero continuity loss, then redesigned the surrounding processes — recovering 800+ labor hours annually.

What a Unit Training Manager is in your organization
A UTM owns the entire learning lifecycle for a workforce: onboarding, qualification, recurring certification, budgets, vendors, and the records that prove it all happened. Industry calls that role Training Manager, Learning & Development Manager, or Workforce Development lead. The transferable core: needs analysis at scale, curriculum and pipeline management, vendor-delivered training oversight, and building programs that keep running when the people change.
